Professional teeth cleaning is a dental procedure that ensures the removal of plaque and tartar, followed by a fluoridation stage to strengthen the enamel.

Doctors recommend this procedure for children starting from the age of 2.5. This is the period when the bite of the primary teeth begins to form. The final decision regarding the necessity of professional cleaning for a child’s teeth is made by a pediatric dentist during the examination, based on individual indicators and the overall condition of the teeth.

The recommended frequency of the procedure is twice a year.

Indications for professional teeth cleaning

- Presence of soft and/or hard plaque
- Presence of dental tartar
- Inflammatory processes in the gums

Contraindications

- Extremely thin and fragile enamel
- Enamel damage (erosion and hypoplasia)
- Infectious diseases during the acute phase
- Hypoallergenic conditions

For children under 14, professional cleaning with special soft brushes is recommended. In some cases, a special anesthetic substance is applied to the gums to eliminate even the slightest discomfort. After the age of 14, ultrasonic professional teeth cleaning is already indicated.
