Essence of the intervention

Laser coagulation surgery is performed in a few phases.

First phase

A scan is performed before the surgery, indicating the blood vessels and helping make penetration of the laser fiber error-free.

Second phase

The doctor uses a tranquilizer to help protect the tissues from burns.

Third phase

The laser fiber is inserted along the whole length of the enlarged blood vessel after a small puncture is made beneath the skin. The laser emits thermal energy, and the closure of the blood vessel is impacted by that thermal energy.

Important to know

The following are the peculiarities of postoperative care:

  • recommended to wear elastic stockings for two weeks following the surgery
  • recommended to walk 3-5 km for no less than an hour every day
